Cutie Honey
Honey Kisaragi is a normal catholic schoolgirl.
That is, until her father was murdered by the Panther Claws who were seeking the Airborne Elemental Fixation Device.
She then finds out that she is actually an android created by him with the Airborne Elemental Fixation Device within her. She is now trying to live a life as a normal schoolgirl and seeking revenge against Panther Claw.
Originally was meant to be a magical girl series, but the timeslot the anime version was on was switched; therefore it had to be changed for a 'shonen' demographic.
Ultimately, Honey ended up being not a magical girl series (despite frequent misconceptions) but rather an early example of a series with a female lead that would have her exposed before and during battle for a male audience.
